Be active, experience something special

Start the day with a lovely walk and experience the hidden gems within Harrogate.

Chose to be part of the racing and find new places to watch the circular route around town. Walk 1

Deviate off the beaten track between the Park and Stride and town to enjoy the woodlands, Crimple Beck and alternative routes across the Stray.  Walk 2

Or take a break and find a spot of tranquility. Beautiful views, lovely rivers and becks, historic monuments. Take your time, enjoy the experience, absorb the surroundings and relax.  Walk 3

Walk 1: Harlow Carr, Birk Crag, Oak Beck

Lovely walk through the Valley Gardens, into the Pinewoods and onto Harlow Carr. Then we drop down into the woods and take in the amazing views through the trees across Nidderdale. Moving from the mixed woodland into the beech woods we walk close to the beck and find a lovely packhorse bridge. Back through the Duchy Estate.

We will cross the cycle route a number of times during this walk - fabulous new places to watch the race.   Saturdays and Tuesday

Walk 2: The Stray, Hookstone Woods, Crimple Valley

We start crossing the Stray past Tewitt Well, moving through to Hookstone Woods and down into Crimple Valley. Spectacular views and pretty woodlands make this a lovely walk.

This walk connects with the Park and Stride, so feel free to join us from here as we pass by the Squash Centre. Have a wonderful diversion as you make your way to the Fan Park and the racing.   Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Walk 3: Nidderdale Greenway, Nidd Gorge, Bilton Beck

A gentle walk along the Nidderdale Greenway (official cycle route to Ripley), before dropping into the Nidd Gorge and under the 7-arch viaduct. Enjoy walking next to the river for a few miles until we find the path leading back via the Gardeners Arms.

A glorious route with plenty of space to enjoy the nature.   Sundays and Thursday

Where to meet at 9am daily

Directly opposite the Harrogate Railway Station main entrance (Platform 1 side). Across Station Parade at the pedestrian traffic lights, arriving at Station Square and the Queen Victoria Monument.

Corner of James Street and Station Parade.
