Monday morning... how are you doing?
Have you got a list of things to do for the week?
Plans in place to support you through the next week, the third week of working from home?
Are you finding a rhythm in your new working environment?
If you are still struggling, are you able to identify the issues?
Do you welcome the opportunities to flex and stretch your work and things in your home life?
Adaptions that might be really helpful:
- find a routine that works
- adapt the routine once you can identify what is / is not working
- be flexible and allow yourself to modify your plans to fit in with your new world an environment
- create defined spaces to meet your needs and those of others in your home
- if you need to flex spaces do so, but be sure to close off the work activities each and every day and recreate your home - relaxation and family time is crucial
- make sure that you are getting exercise - inside or outside..
- and really do make the most of our daily hour outdoors
- we need sunshine for vitamin D production and our good health
- we need the mental release of a change of scenery
- and use the time and space to create memories with your family
- explore and notice the rapidly unfurling spring all around us
- if you are in the restricted group and are not able to take a walk out then make the most of your garden, balcony, or views from the window - you can still get fresh air, be inspired by nature, and receive the important sunbeams!
- try to limit the hours of work that you are putting in, and I know that this can be really difficult
- some are providing essential services
- some are pivoting their businesses to provide support and services now needed, examples like chef Tom Kerridge and his Meals from Marlow, our local Blueline Taxi who are now running a shopping service (and quite honestly have a rubbish website as it hasn't been updated!)
- some are providing support and services to business owners and others struggling mentally and emotionally - accountants (called out CCF Accountancy and Teresa Bowe in the video), coaches, therapists, healers, etc.
- be clear about your vision so that you can be sure that you are only committing to those activities that are useful to others and aligned to your future vision
- value your time
- set a good example to your children and family
- ensure you have enough time and energy for the activities/people who really need you
- be sure that you are valuing you, your time, the value you add to others and the economy, all of which need you to be focused on your vision
- spare time and thought to think of others that need your support - family matters, illness, etc
- make time to create space for free headspace - meditation in any form that you chose
- eat well, drink plenty of water and nourish your body
- sleep and ensure that you are getting regular, deep rest each and every night
This is day 14 and during any 40-day challenge, which I do regularly in my yoga, we all know that days 16 through 19, can be the real toughies!
The excitement and newness has worn off. The routine isn't quite settled and distractions (often mentally) start to appear. It is easy to give up or miss a day. However, when we are in lockdown, there is no giving up...
Be mindful of the pressure points that could appear throughout your household. Be understanding. Support the routine. Create the rhythm and #bekind.
Happy Monday...
